About Us

Becoming interested in lighting early on, Billy Hoff began building his first makeshift light fixtures while in his teens. After receiving a BFA from Ithaca College and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Billy moved to NYC, where he worked for a lamp designer creating prototypes. Before taking over Lamplighter, Billy worked closely with its owners, Tim Rush and Tom Fisher, learning to tinsmith. In 2005 Billy moved the business up island to West Tisbury where he lives with his wife and their two daughters.

I made that one. Oh, there’s one.” It turns out that almost every house in the district has been quietly adorned with his company’s 19th century gas lamp reproductions."..... read the whole article
